They travelled to all the cities and villages including tribal areas and
convinced people to vote for Pakistan. As a result people of Sarhad
voted for Pakistan and became a part of it. It was a huge victory. With
the blessing of Allah and the tiring efforts of our elders the fatal issue
of pakhtoonistan was suppressed and Pakistan was strengthened.
Maulana Usmani lead the Janaza prayer of Quaid e Azam and Fatima
Jinnah. Liaquat Ali Khan used to invite Maulana Usmani and other
scholars at dinners and Iftar.
Karachi was declared as capital on August 14. Quaid e Azam resided
in Governor General House known as Governor House today. The
national Assembly meetings used to be held at today’s SindhAssembly
building. The flag of Pakistan was wavered by Maulana Usmani in
Karachi at the wish of Quaid e Azam. In Dhaka, the ceremony was
performed by Maulana Zafar Usmani Thanvi, a relative of Maulan
Ashraf Ali Thanvi who lead Pakistan Movement himself. Thus our
elders played a central role in Pakistan Movement. May Allah protect
our flag forever!
Liauqat Ali Khan was martyred. He had established a board of Islamic
penal code gathering the best scholars from India and Pakistan to
get a basic skeleton of Islamic constitution devised. My father, Syed
Sulaiman nadvi, Dr. Hameed ullah (who left later) were a part of it. So,
these people prepared their recommendations. But unfortunately there
was a lobby working under the supervision of Ghulam Muhammad,
then finance minister of Pakistan. They were against the promulgation
of any Islamic constitution. Therefore, they managed to eliminate all
the recommendations of Islamic board for the Islamic constitution.
Resultantly, my father announced that what has been presented is not
according the recommendations of their board. At this, then secretary
of National assembly, who remained my father’s student long ago,
said to my father that your statement is against the government. My
father responded that he stated the truth because he did not need an
allowance from the government (almost 1000 rupees at that time) as
his expenses were quite controlled. He even shwed his resignation
to the secretary and showed his willingness to resign in case of any
discrepancy. Liaqat Ali Khan was reported about all this and he was
perplexed at the situation. Finally Liaqat Ali met Maulan Usmani and
